Does No Pain, No Gain Apply To The Mind?
They say pressure makes diamonds? Well…
At this point, My neck should be iced out.
Shi in fact I should own my own jewelry store.
But instead, I feel like coal.
I hate being a victim, but after all the BS I feel like I’m a worse person… So that made me do some research. How much BS mental and emotional help you grow and how much causes more problems.
“No pain, no gain”
The saying represents the exhausting belief that pain must eventually prove it was worth it.
That what you’re going through will make you better and stronger.
This ties to another article I wrote about being delusional or another about romanticizing life.
But is some pain just pain?
It doesn’t arrive carrying a lesson plan, or gain anything. In fact you lose everything.
Cause Sometimes the lesson is something we create afterward because the original experience had the writing ability of a cat laying on a laptop.
Let’s get nerdy with it. (What Science says)

Some adversity was associated with greater resilience.
Seery, Holman, and Silver (2010) — Whatever Does Not Kill Us: Cumulative Lifetime Adversity, Vulnerability, and Resilience. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 99(6), 1025–1041.
Researchers followed 2,398 adults from 2001–2004. People who had experienced some adversity reported less psychological distress, fewer posttraumatic stress symptoms, and greater life satisfaction than people reporting either no adversity or extensive adversity. They were also less negatively affected by recent stressful events.
What it supports: Some experience with hardship may help people cope with later challenges. However, the observational study cannot prove that suffering itself caused stronger coping. escholarship.org
Repeated stress was associated with greater vulnerability.
Fernandez and colleagues (2020) — Assessing the Relationship Between Psychosocial Stressors and Psychiatric Resilience Among Chilean Disaster Survivors. The British Journal of Psychiatry, 217(5), 630–637.
Researchers analyzed 1,160 Chilean adults, using assessments collected before and after the 2010 earthquake. Among participants without a baseline history of PTSD or major depression, those reporting four or more earlier stressors had 2.77 times the odds of developing PTSD after the disaster compared with those reporting none. More earlier stressors were also associated with greater odds of major depression.
What it supports: Accumulated stress can leave people more vulnerable to later adversity—a pattern called stress sensitization. This was also observational, and its findings may not generalize beyond the population studied.
Can you Gain or will it make you INSANE?

Conclusion
So research on “post traumatic growth” makes this complicated.
People can FEEL that the hardship changed them, yet perceived growth doesn’t always match measurable change. In one prospective study, reported growth was generally unrelated to actual before and after improvement.
Pain doesn’t automatically install wisdom updates.
In fact most of the time it makes things worse.
Growth requires not just pain but perspective and healing.
Just like working out. You need to let your muscles rest.
But just like working out, if your form is wrong or if you do the work out incorrectly it will actually damage your body more than help you.
Sometimes carrying the pain becomes a second job and the benefits are garbage. Hell there is no benefits.
Sometimes it’s you looking back and have to find meaning.
Having some reflection (lol) and changing your behavior.
That’s easier said than done. Trust me.
Sometimes I get mad about sh!t that happened to me in the third grade. (Fck you Greg)
Although it’s cliche (Cli_Chey) I TRY to see how or what can I learn from this.
BUT Some times no matter how hard you look there is no meaning or lesson. So you gotta learn to make it art or release it.
Cause we can’t build our entire identity around our trauma.
Loser logging off.
