I love to think.
To think about thinking.

I also love to self reflect
To analyze and analyze the analysis
In fact I do it everywhere, all of the time…

You would think with the amount of time I spent thinking,
I would be extremely successful, rich and highly intelligent…

You would think… But you would be wrong.
In fact the complete opposite is true. Why is that?

So that got me thinking. lol

Is there a wrong and right way to think?
Spoilers: YES… In many more ways than you think.

What’s a skillful, scientifically backed way to think aka process our thoughts?
(This is going to take awhile. Welcome to Part One)

And…

When does our thoughts or thinking stop being beneficial and starts to be detrimental? (It doesn’t take much to shift from one to the other.)

So with all that thinking and self reflection, What’s the problem? Even after reading so many self development books and hours of YouTube videos trying to improve…

I still struggled to make any major, drastic changes for a significant amount of time, that would dramatically, propel my life forward in a meaningful way.

So I did some reflecting. (lol) …And the problem was obvious.

To much thinking not enough doing. (Shocker I know.)
Thinking without action is useless. We all know that.

You gotta walk how you talk. Cue music (Walk it like I talk it)

So if we all know then why do a lot of us struggle to do?
Why don’t we stop thinking and start acting like Nike? “Just do it.” :)

Well… After tons of research and thought put into it I discovered how…

Let’t talk about it. lol

[SYSTEM ALERT]
Your Brain’s OS Might Be Outdated

“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”

When I read Atomic Habits last year, the info seemed obvious to me.
It didn’t reveal anything significant until it got to the part of actually applying the habits.

Knowing is just half the battle. Applying the knowledge is way harder.

Goals are about the results you want;
Systems is the process on how you achieve those goals.
But how do we implement (Install) the process to begin with?

Atomic Habits says you must change your identity first before you could start to implement new habits. Seems easy enough…

Some habits were easy for me to break like uninstalling Uber eats and DoorDash from my phone. Then… to make sure I didn’t just reinstall it…

I changed the password to something random,
Didn’t save the password to any devices but wrote it down on a piece of paper instead. (Like a boomer.) lol

Other habits for me were way harder to break or stay consistent with.
Like regulating my emotions and not wanting to pop off at the first sign of disrespect.

It’s…
HOW we think
NOT
WHAT we think.

So how do we think correctly?
Before we talk about habits, discipline, consistency, healing and thoughts…
We gotta make sure we have the correct system operating at all times.

Here’s how we do that!

Brain Operating System

The Body is our Hardware. The Brain is the CPU.

Mindset is the operating system. And
Thinking/ Thought process Is the software that runs on it.

So first things first…
We need to talk about Mindset. Before you roll your eyes… Hear me out.

Mindset is NOT motivation.
People talk about mindset like it’s a personality trait. It’s not.

The Rabbit hole goes way deeper than
Postive or Negative,
Abundance or Scarcity,
Deliberative vs. Implemental,
Again It’s how your brain operates.
It shapes our decisions, our goals and habits…

It also shapes our ability to tackle situations, experiences and challenges.
Basically…. How we perceive, interpret, react, and navigate our life, the world and reality.

Your life literally depends on it.
Mindset is responsible for our reality. It’s your matrix…

Virtually every aspect of life, from…
Academic achievement, career success and relationship quality depends on mindset.

Even physical health…
Research shows that mindset can have physiological responses like blood pressure and hormone levels.

This year not only am I running a full diagnostic on my CPU.
(Self reflection/ Thinking)
But…
Deconstructing the old me and constructing a new one.
(Taking action and building better habits.)

So I can continue my journey from a loser to a legend.
Will I succeed? Only time will tell dear reader. I’ll make it entertaining nonetheless. ^__^

Now…
Here’s my researched and scientifically backed…

Loser’s Instruction Manual on
The Brain’s Operating System. MIND OS

Part One:
The Brain’s OS (Operating System)

Understanding how the OS runs is crucial.

Consciously or unconsciously your mind is operating a specific set of laws and characteristic. These Core elements make up the Mindset.

Core Characteristics of All Mindsets

  • Belief System: The foundational assumptions about your potential and how the world works.

  • Cognitive Framework: Habits of thinking that shape your internal dialogue and interpretation of events.

  • Behavioral Driver: Direct influences on your choices, actions, and reactions to success or failure.

  • Malleability: Most mindsets are learned through experience and can be consciously changed over time.

Although there are thousands of different mindsets with different variables of these core. Scientifically speaking there are only TWO.

Which one you install (adopt) will significantly influence not only your personal development but your reality and life. Basically the Matrix.

It’s not about unplugging from the matrix (Impossible)
It’s about plugging into the right one.

The Brain’s Main Mindset (Operating System)
The two foundational mindsets that all mindsets are built on are…

The Growth mindset: (Open Source) The belief that these traits / characteristics can be developed.

The Fixed mindset:  (Closed System) Consciously or unconsciously your mind is operating with a specific set of laws and characteristic.
Same event. Different OS.
This is why two people can experience the same experience…

But end up with completely different outcomes.

Basic Belief

Abilities can be developed.

Abilities are innate and static.

Challenges

Embraces them as opportunities.

Avoids them to protect self-image.

Effort

Seen as the path to mastery.

Seen as a sign of low ability.

Feedback

Valued as useful information.

Viewed as a personal attack.

Setbacks

Views them as temporary and learnable.

Seen as proof of lack of talent.

Other's Success

Source of inspiration.

Felt as a threat.

Does this remind you of something? Another article perhaps.
Healthy ego vs an Unhealthy one.

Growth Mindset

I’m good or I’m bad at it. I have talent/ skill or don’t.

I can learn to do anything I want.

That's just who I am. I can't change it.

I'm a constantly evolving work in progress.

If’s hard it isn’t meant for you. I don't have the ability, skillset or talent.

More challenges, the better/ smarter you become. You can gain the ability

If I don’t at first  succeed, then I fail. Move on.

I only fail when I stop trying.

But This Is Where The Issues Pop Off

So we established the different core OS. How they run. And…

How it Determines the Meaning of Everything

Here’s the wild part. This is where most mindset content stops…

This is just the surface.
You might think you have one mindset without realizing you’re booting up and running both.

Your mindset can change instantly cause it’s a state of mind (lol)

These are some of the things that can be triggered by:

  • the environment

  • the stakes

  • the audience

  • the memory of past failure

  • how safe you feel

  • how tired you are

  • whether you feel judged

In other words: You don’t “choose” your mindset…
You often default into it.

Your defaults are shaped by your nervous system.

Most people commonly run different mindsets at different times.

This can cause so many negative effects.
It also lower the quality of your brain’s performance over all.

It can even cause physical brain damage. (Say what?)

So tomorrow we will focus on the diagnostics.

What Boots Up specific Mindsets (OS)
And how to shift in real time to the one we all want… Growth
